Discover the feel of a quartz before moving up the ladder
Owning a complicated Hermes watch is a journey that should begin with a quartz, says the company's managing director, Eric Grellety Bosviel.
The brand's watchmaking philosophy is based on a simple rule: each collection must be developed step by step. It begins with a philosophy style, to which new ideas are added until a manufacture, or top-of-the-line product, is created.
'We say: if a customer wants to enter the Hermes watch world, discover the feel of a quartz and work up to a mechanical manufacture,' Mr Grellety Bosviel said.
Hermes watches fall into four categories: leather, classic, mechanic and precious.
Under the classic banner comes the emblematic H-Our collection, with its lugs forming the letter H. It is still in the 'infancy stage' with a quartz movement, but has been reinterpreted by designer Philippe Mouquet with a new, round case. The men's version has a guilloche sunburst pattern on the dial, which is 40mm in diameter. The women's version measures 25mm. A stainless steel case is available with a silvered dial with black numerals, in black with white numerals, or in white with black numerals. The strap is available in several varieties of leather, including calfskin, alligator and ostrich.
