Denise Ho Wan-sze is probably the first Hong Kong singer to shoot a short film in Beijing's alternative art space, the 798 factory district. She plays a dance student who has to make her first attempt at modern dance. Male lead Huang Jue, a mainland actor, had to spin her 360 degrees. Ho was completely dizzy after shooting the scene. 'Imagine, in one single shot, I was rotated more than 10 times. I think in the end I went through 100 rotations,' she says. It was supposedly an artsy space, but Ho says the restrooms were so tiny and dilapidated that there were no toilet doors. To avoid getting wet, she tucked her pants into long socks and wore black shoes. 'I looked like someone from a rural village,' she says.
