Two leap to their deaths from same estate
A Polytechnic University student leapt to her death in Lam Tin shortly after 1pm yesterday. Luk Yuen-ching, 20, apparently jumped out of the bedroom window of a Ping Shing House unit in Ping Tin Estate. She had reportedly broken up with her boyfriend. An 80-year-old man also jumped to his death from the same estate at 10.30am.
mainlander arrested over handbag snatching
A mainlander who arrived in Hong Kong on Sunday was caught after being accused of stealing a handbag from a woman in a Mongkok park. The man, 44, allegedly stole the bag while the woman, 32, chatted with friends at the junction of Palm Street and Cherry Street at about 7.30am. The four women gave chase, and their shouting alerted two men who stopped the suspect.
ketamine seized, 4 held
Four people were arrested after a small amount of suspected ketamine was found at a police roadblock in Mongkok. A 21-year-old man scuffled with officers and was subdued. The other three were arrested for disorderly conduct.
