Policeman denies completing sex act with prostitute in hotel
An undercover policeman has denied he completed a sex act during a meeting with a prostitute, who killed herself after claiming she was being framed for blackmail.
Constable Yau Shu-ming told the Coroner's Court he was 'bait' in a raid aimed at netting prostitutes blackmailing their clients at the Empire Hotel in Fenwick Street, Wan Chai. He said that on the night of October 5, he met the woman, Li Yuen-yi, at the hotel for three hours of sex, for which he would pay $500.
Constable Yau told the court he gave her $500, they undressed and she put a condom on him and began stimulating him. When she brought up the topic of sexual intercourse, he asked her to stop.
'I felt I had enough evidence at that point, so I stopped her,' he said, adding there were no clear guidelines on when to do so. 'I decided myself.'
Constable Yau told the court Li went to the bathroom, and when she returned, he received a call from a man who demanded immediate payment of $9,000 or he would be 'chopped to pieces'.
He said he did not climax during the encounter. Li demanded $2,500. He threw his wallet on the bed and told Li: 'If you dare'.
