Hong Kong will become the seventh stopover for the longest Asian Games torch relay ever when it passes through the SAR on October 27.
Hong Kong is one of 15 countries and regions that will take part in the torch relay on a 55-day journey - more than twice as long as Pusan four years ago. Other stopovers include New Dehli, Pusan, Manila, Incheon, Jakarta, Muscat, Dubai, Kuwait City and Manama in Bahrain.
The torch relay will also be held in Beijing, Guangzhou and Macau. Hong Kong will be planning a cultural event with a Qatar element to it as the SAR celebrates its participation in the multi-sports event.
The torch relay will begin its journey on October 8 when it is lit and end at the opening ceremony in Doha on December 1.
The torch relay will visit every former Asian Games host country, namely: China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Iran, South Korea, Japan and five Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states that includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
About 3,500 torchbearers will carry the flame a distance of 500 metres each on a journey that will span more than 50,000km.
