Software company Novell is looking to intensify its marketing efforts in China, buoyed by the steady adoption of Linux and open-source systems by mainland enterprises.
'I expect us to pursue new development initiatives in China aggressively,' said John Dragoon, senior vice-president and chief marketing officer at Novell.
'We have made headway in promoting our technology in China, helping the government make it more fashionable for enterprises to use Linux and other open-source software.'
Research from China-based analyst firm CCID Consulting said Novell strengthened its position last year by establishing new research and development, technical support and training facilities across the mainland.
It said Novell continued to lead the Linux market on the mainland, outpacing both domestic and international distributors and holding a 25.1 per cent market share.
'Looking back at China's Linux market last year, we can see Novell was no doubt the biggest star,' ?said Qian Lei, computer and software analyst at CCID Consulting. 'Novell has gained good results from its investment in China's Linux market.'
