Xiangxue Sun Hei booked their place in the knockout stage of the AFC Cup after defeating Home United of Singapore 2-0 in their final group match last night at the Bishan Stadium. Brazilian Fladimir Freitas drew first blood from the penalty spot midway through the first half after striker Chu Siu-kei was brought down in the area, while Julius Akosah sealed the victory with another fine effort in the second half. With 13 points from six matches, Sun Hei finished top of group E and reached the quarter-finals for the second straight year. Last year, they made it to the semi-finals. Coach Koo Luam Khen was delighted with the result, saying: 'We created many chances and dominated throughout the match. Now we are through to the quarter-finals, I hope we will go even further than last year.' The winners of the tournament will receive US$300,000 in prize money. Meanwhile, Tampines Rovers of Singapore beat Happy Valley 4-0 in group F at Mongkok Stadium last night. The visitors finished top of the group.
