Hot Picks

Louise Lui, 12, Chinese International School

CD

A Girl Like Me by Rihanna. Rihanna's second album offers more of the same catchy tracks, like SOS, and emotional ballads, such as Unfaithful.

DVD

Miss Congeniality. It's about an FBI agent who goes undercover as a competitor in a Miss United States contest.

Movie

The Pink Panther, starring Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau. It keeps the laughs coming.

Book

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. The book is based on a true story of a 12-year-old girl stuck on a deserted island.

Cheap Eat

McDonald's. The food is cheap and tasty. They also have desserts.

Samantha Keylock, 16, South Island School

CD

We Don't Need to Whisper by Angels and Airwaves. The lead singer used to be part of Blink 182. Their music is amazing.

DVD

Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story. It's about a horse trainer and his daughter who nurse a severely injured race horse back to health.

Movie

The Da Vinci Code. Although reviewers might say it's not worth seeing, monk-on-a-mission Silas scares me silly and it's an interesting thesis.

Book

The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. It's about two students trying to solve the mysteries of a Renaissance text. The best book I've ever read.

Cheap Eat

Macdonald's. It may be fattening, but there's always exercise. No harm in stuffing yourself once in a while.
