lean pickings for li after rent payment

PCCW chairman Richard Li Tzar-kai might receive zero compensation for heading the Hong Kong telecoms incumbent, a company spokeswoman told Earful last week.

Not that the high-flying IT veteran has decided to invest his time elsewhere, but the $4.29 million he received last year - all in the form of rental payment to his Peak mansion landlord - is no longer necessary as Mr Li has recently moved out into a self-owned property.

'In terms of cash flow, Richard received nothing at all, as all the $4.29 million last year was paid to his landlord for his house on the Peak,' said the spokeswoman, who encouraged us to stay tuned to the 2006 annual report to be issued next year which could show that Mr Li received zero compensation for his work at PCCW this year.
