Graduates earn more: survey
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) recorded an increase in the starting salary of their graduates last year.
Compared to 2004, CUHK graduates in 2005 earned an average monthly salary of $14,263, an increase of 4.7 per cent, while HKU's graduates in the same year earned an average monthly salary of $14,214, an increase of 6.3 per cent.
Don't be too disappointed if your salary is not above the average because according to
HKU statistics, 75 per cent of the graduates last year actually earned less than $15,000.
The graduates earning the highest starting salary in each university both came from the medical school.
The HKU doctor earned $74,443 a month in a private clinic while the CUHK doctor earned $70,000.
