The Kowloon Shangri-La is celebrating its silver jubilee (25 years) with a selection of 25 cuisines being served on the buffet in Cafe Kool until June 17. The selection will change every three days, but includes spiced lamb with chickpeas and mint couscous (Morocco), cod with sauerkraut and tarragon sauce (German) and escargot canapes with mushrooms (France). The lunch buffet is $198 plus 10 per cent for adults ($138 for children) Monday-Saturday, and $248 ($188 for children) on Sundays; dinner is $328 ($208 for children) Monday-Thursday, and $368 ($218 for children) Friday-Sunday and the eve and day of public holidays. Rodolfo Migliorini, winemaker for Podere Rocche Dei Manzoni, will host a wine dinner on June 7 at Toscana in the Ritz-Carlton. The six-course dinner includes: vegetable and Raschera cheese ravioli with foie gras and asparagus ragout, paired with the Quatr' Nas 2000; roasted rack of veal with baby onion in Barolo wine, served with the Barolo Big d'Big 2000; with the highlight wine, the Barolo Pianpolvere Soprano 1999 (a seven year riserva), served with the cheese course. From June 5 to 30, Thai Lemongrass in Central will serve a semi-buffet and noodle menu for $118 plus 10 per cent. Diners can start with a salad buffet that includes spicy green papaya and grilled beef with lime, choose from five prepared-to-order noodle dishes (including roasted duck with flat rice noodles), then return to the buffet for dessert (coconut grass jelly, sticky rice with mango, fresh fruits). Patio restaurant in the New World Renaissance Hotel is serving Japanese specialities on its dinner buffet throughout June and July.
