Olympian effort brings success
KOWLOON City and Islands Junior Police Call (JPC) districts have come out on top in basketball and football respectively at the 1993/1994 JPC mini-Olympics after an exciting round of competition.
Yuen Long finished second and Kwai Tsing, third in the basketball championship while runner-up in the football tournament was Western with Eastern coming in third place.
With the encouragement of spectators, Kowloon City defeated its opponent 32-21 in the basketball game, while in football, Islands District beat Western District 3-1.
The winners were presented medals by Chief Staff Inspector of the Police Public Relations Branch, Mr Wong Tak-wah, and the Police Community Relations Officer of the Kowloon City District, Mr Fung Lok-kwok.
Meanwhile, registration for the mini-Olympics athletic championships is now open. The event will be held on February 20 and 26 at Shamshuipo Sports Ground.
Field events will include the high jump, long jump and shot put while on the track will be the 60 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, 1,500 metres and the 4 x 100-metre relay.
