Hit Style is a double-disc collection of 29 chart-topping songs from Japan by various artists such as Mika Nakashima, Chemistry and K. The diversity of J-pop - a term that refers to Western-influenced Japanese pop music - is reflected in the wide variety of music genres featured on the album. Tracks range from rock, soul, pop and hip hop to theme songs from anime and films. Fans of Fullmetal Alchemist will be delighted with opening song Rewrite, a rock number by Asian Kung-fu Generation, and catchy closing number I Will, by R&B singer Sowelu (who featured in the 2002 World Cup theme song Let's Get Together Now). Also, Gundam fans will enjoy Reason, a single by Nami Tamaki (nicknamed Gundam diva) which is the theme song of the anime Gundam Seed Destiny. A highlight is Hana, Orange Range's uplifting ballad which is the theme song of the popular tearjerker Ima, Ainiyukimasu. Other standouts include the ballad Over... by K and the energetic rock tune New World by L'Arc~en~Ciel, one of Japan's most important rock bands. If you enjoy J-pop, Hit Style will be this month's best buy.
