E-commerce giant eBay and Taiwanese internet services provider PChome Online have agreed to form a joint venture that will merge their online trading activities on the island.
The partners said they would launch a co-branded website for online auction-style and fixed-price trading for buyers and sellers in Taiwan. Financial details were not disclosed.
The deal is subject to various conditions and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The new website will be managed by PChome Online and will replace both its existing auction channel and the eBay Taiwan site.
'PChome Online is the right partner to help us transform online shopping in Taiwan,' said Matt Bannick, president of eBay International.
Launched in 1998, PChome Online is the No2 internet portal and the leading e-commerce website in Taiwan.
