A young gang bashed an 18-year-old girl to death with a dumb-bell, a rolling pin and a chair because she had failed to 'correct her domineering character', a court heard yesterday.

A 15-year-old boy, giving evidence under immunity, said the fatal attack came three days after an earlier vicious beating, after which victim Lau Mei-ying had asked for time to improve.

The boy was testifying in the Court of First Instance against nine youths who face charges of murder and causing grievous bodily harm to Lau, whose body was disfigured with corrosive acid and dumped on a hillside in Kwun Tong on July 16, 2004.

The court heard that the savage attacks took place in a flat in Lei On Court, Kwun Tong, on July 11, and overnight on July 14-15.

The boy said that on the night of July 11, he and six members of the group had beaten Lau for more than 20 minutes with fists, feet and a chair, because she was 'domineering'.

The boy said Lau asked one of the attackers, To Chun-yue, for three more days to change her behaviour and 'her request was accepted'. But she was attacked for the second time on July 14 because she had not 'corrected'.
