Radio hosts suspended over poll insult
Station pulls programme for two months as official warns of penalties
Commercial Radio has decided to suspend popular hosts Sammy Leung Chi-kin and Kitty Yuen Siu-yee and their programme So Fab for two months, as it faces the possibility of penalties over a poll about indecently assaulting celebrities.
In a statement last night, the station said So Fab, on Commercial Radio 2, would go off the air for two months from Monday. It said Leung and Yuen would take two months of no-pay leave and would not be allowed take up any new freelance jobs during this period.
The station came in for heavy condemnation last week after So Fab launched the internet poll asking listeners to vote for female artists they would most like to indecently assault.
Leung and Yuen, the most popular hosts on the station, also appear in television commercials and programmes. At present, they are hosting a game show called 15/16 on TVB.
Commercial Radio reiterated its apology in the statement, saying an internal review had been carried out over the past few days.
