A 31-member delegation from China leads a strong Asian presence at the Global Summit of Women.
Also attending is My Truong Hoa, vice-president of Vietnam and one of the nation's five women ministers. She served as chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union until appointed to the ministry in 2002.
'Asian women are making great economic and social progress in the world today,' she said in an address to the summit. 'Meetings like these play a valuable part in their advancement.'
The China group is led by Hong Tianhui, vice-chairwoman of the National Working Committee on Women and Children.
Another key delegate is businesswoman Ren Lijue, chairwoman of Tian Zhao Grand Pharmacy and a life member of the Association of Chinese Women Entrepreneurs.
'These meetings are of great importance to women all over the world because they not only teach women how to excel in business but show the immense power that women will wield in the world when they learn to unite,' Ms Ren said.
