Pictures of success

SCMP photographer Martin Chan Kwok-cheung poses with his winning pictures at a presentation in Causeway Bay yesterday for the Hong Kong Press Photographers Association Awards. He won the general news category with an image of a protester penned in by police with water cannon during last December's World Trade Organisation protests. He won second prize with a picture of a Thai girl sitting beside a damaged boat that captured the essence of the tsunami aftermath in a fishing village. K.Y. Cheng won an honorable mention in the feature section with a picture of brides in Qingdao , and Felix Wong won an honorable mention in the nature category for his picture of lightning over Victoria Harbour.
