According to French crystal house Lalique, the raison d'etre of its new Jaffa lamp series is 'visual entertainment'. Entertainment at this level, however, comes at a price. Part of the Curios collection, which pays tribute to founder Rene Lalique's eclecticism and extravagance, the hand-finished pieces include a floor chandelier comprising 20 clear-crystal and brushed-metal lights (left; $115,000), ceiling chandeliers in three sizes ($48,000 to $104,500) and a simple but chic desk lamp ($9,500). Also new is the Versailles lamp (right; $50,000), which has a classic, clear-crystal Versailles vase as its base. To top it off, there is a white-satin-lined, pleated black shade (right; $2,900). The items are available at Lalique, shop 2060, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2234 7333, and the company's other outlets.
