Updated at 2.56pm: Bus drivers from the four franchised bus companies in Hong Kong staged a two-hour work-to-rule protest on Monday morning to voice demands for a pay rise.
Traffic on some of Hong Kong?s major roads, such as Hennessey Road in Wanchai and the Cross Harbour Tunnel entrance in Hung Hom, was more congested than usual.
Waiting times for buses were also longer, local radio reported.
Drivers on some 6,000 routes across the territory staged the industrial action between 10am and noon. The routes were held by the four bus companies in Hong Kong: Citybus, New World First Bus, Kowloon Motor Bus and its subsidiary, Long Win Bus.
Monday?s action saw the drivers waiting until all passengers were seated before they commenced driving, local radio reported.
Drivers then stopped at every bus stop ? even if no one was waiting to get on or off. Buses also did not drive away from a bus stop until other buses in front had left. They also drove in the slower lanes.
