An exhausting flight from London to Hong Kong for Doug Hoover and Lauren Chan led to a new business and new brand name.

'We were appalled by the tornado of trash and utter wastage we saw on the airplane afterwards,' said Mr Hoover. 'That's when we came up with the idea to design and make something that was more environmentally friendly and would be used and reused every time you get on an airplane.'

Do Good makes air travel kits to make flights more comfortable for passengers, including circulation-stimulating socks, inflatable neck and lumbar pillows, a quick-drying towel, eyeshades, earplugs and additional pockets for passport, ticket and pills.

'My goal since launching the company in 2004 has always been for Do Good to be a self-sustaining brand of in-flight travel products that through design and functionality endeavour to bring comfort and harmony to today's global traveller,' said Mr Hoover.

The process from inspiration through initial design to production of Do Good's launch product, the Jetset, involved roughly a year of research and development.

Do Good initially laid out US$7,500 on research and development, including production of injection molds for products such as adaptors and earphones. The figure continues to grow as the product line expands.

'Of course, since launching our original Jetset pack, Do Good's other designs have been modified and improved upon,' said Mr Hoover. 'Most of the design changes and adjustments have been based on customer feedback.
