I would choose to  go to university in Hong Kong.

Some may think that studying hard  or climbing the steep ladder of education is the most important thing in their lives.

Others may think that foreign education is better than the local curriculum.

Some parents may even believe  that foreign tertiary education is a necessity for their children to succeed.

I'm not saying that university education abroad may be better than that in Hong Kong. I'm also not  saying that Hong Kong is better than other countries.

But I prefer attending university in Hong Kong. Visualise studying at a local university,  with all your best buddies around you, chatting to and supporting you.  Besides, you could go out with your family for  dim sum every Sunday.  Once in a while, you could go back to your old school,  and recall all the wonderful times you had as a primary and secondary student.

You would hear familiar sounds every day, as your family members go about their business.

You would also be able to  watch the TV news each morning.

What could be more  rewarding than studying in a place with all your best friends and family around?

Friends' valuable support, a hug from loved ones, or even the home-made breakfast by your mum  could make a big difference.

Home sweet home ... what could be better than staying in your hometown during the most critical period of your life?

Going to university in Hong Kong is not a bad  choice, but overseas education is a better option.

Firstly, tertiary institutes abroad offer a wider variety of programmes than their counterparts in Hong Kong. This provides students with more opportunities to develop their potential.

Secondly, we can experience a different culture and share our views with foreign students.

Through such interaction, Hong Kong students can broaden their horizons and get a better understanding of other people's traditions.  So if students want to have a glimpse of the outside world, they should enrol in a foreign university.

Thirdly, students can boost their English skills if they study abroad because they will be using the language every day.

Fourthly, those with an overseas degree have better job prospects.  Many Hong Kong employers want to hire staff who have studied overseas because of their better communication skills and broader outlook on life. This is a very big advantage in our globalised world.

In conclusion, students who study overseas have a higher chance of developing their potential to the fullest.  Moreover, they will have a good grasp of English which is crucial for finding a good job and ensuring future success.  Hence, it's better to study at an overseas university.
