You've met Richard Li the deal-maker. Now meet Richard Li the star maker.
While the takeover contest for PCCW and its telecommunications and media assets hogs the headlines, Mr Li's privately owned Music Nation Group is quietly staking out a leading position in local and mainland show business.
It is one of the promoters of Phantom of the Opera, the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical set to make its Hong Kong debut next month. Music Nation expects the show to be its profit centre this year.
And the firm has plenty more irons in the fire. A source tells Media Eye that singer-actor Aaron Kwok Fu-shing has signed a three-year contract, becoming the first top-tier artist to join Music Nation since Mr Li founded it in 2002.
Along with Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, Andy Lau Tak-wah and Leon Lai Ming, Kwok is one of the Four Kings of local pop - 'the best of the four', according to our source.
The company is planning to put Kwok on the stage in a brand new musical either next year or in 2008.
