Updated at 7.05pm: There were new developments on Friday in the investigation into the murder of a mainland student whose body was found inside a suitcase in New Zealand earlier this year.
The case - involving other Chinese overseas students - attracted considerable interest in Asia. It is believed the motive for the crime may have originally been to extort money from the victim's parents.
The killing shocked New Zealand - where Chinese university students have long enjoyed a reputation for being hard-working and well-behaved.
According to media reports on Friday, New Zealand and Australian police have arrested four Chinese people in connection with the murder. The student's body was found in a suitcase in Auckland's Waitemata Harbour .
The body of Biao Wan, 19, was first discovered by a fisherman on April 14.
Auckland police believed Biao had been killed in a hotel room that day. His body was stuffed into a suitcase before being dumped into the harbour.
