A businessman in Hong Kong has rushed home to Australia after his eight-year-old daughter was raped and killed in a shopping centre in Perth.
Police in Western Australia said the father of Sofia Rodriguez-Urrutia-Shu was on a working visit to Hong Kong, where he had business interests and from where he had emigrated 'many years ago'.
They said the father, whom they did not name, left Hong Kong immediately after her death on Monday to be with his distraught family.
Sofia's killing, in the Livingstone Market shopping centre in the Perth suburb of Canning Vale, has shocked Australia.
Her 14-year-old brother has told police of his frantic search for her in the shopping centre before finding her body slumped in a toilet for the disabled.
The boy, his 11-year-old sister and an uncle who cares for the children while their parents are in Hong Kong had waited for about 10 minutes for Sophia to come back from the toilet.
