After her less than successful second album, Folklore (2003), Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado is back with Loose.
Hip hop-pop song Promiscuous, which features Timbaland, is a hit in the US and Canada. Timbaland is also the album's main producer. The collaboration has resulted in a sparkling, lively set of songs.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin helped write the sweet downtempo track All Good Things (Come To An End) and Columbian singing star Juanes (with whom Furtado collaborated on the hit record Fotografia) appears on the album.
Another highlight, the pumped up and dirty Maneater, has topped the British charts.
The mostly Spanish No Hay Igual
('I have no equal') is a sharp mix of percussion and rapping. It's a good dance track, but a little too reminiscent of another attractive Latin singer, Shakira. Other highlights include Afraid, Glow and In God's Hands.
