Jonathan Powell

Name: Ariel Lee Yin-nok

School: Diocesan Girls' Junior School

Grade: Primary Six

Sport: Swimming

Achievements: Ariel, 12, broke swimming records in the 50 metre and 100 metre freestyle, butterfly and relays, in the 2005-2006 inter-school competitions. She dominates her age group in aquathons, winning the Hong Kong Triathlon Association series title.

Ariel was a member of the champion Hong Kong team which triumphed at the inter-port competition in Macau in April.

She is a member of the Daili Swimming Club in Kowloon Bay, and trains six evenings a week in the pool. She is tipped to become a Hong Kong national team swimmer one day.

Last week she won a prestigious age group accolade - the Kowloon West Area Sportsgirl of the Year trophy at the Hong Kong and Kowloon Primary School Sports Awards.

Soundbite: 'I practised more this year and took it more seriously. My coach has given me a lot of good advice. I like breaking records, and it's an easy way to make friends. I don't find training boring at all. It's a challenge.'

From her coach: 'Ariel is very committed to improving, and this was the second year she has been chosen for this award,' said DGJS sports teacher Lilian Fung. 'She already has a lot of competition experience, and I'm sure she can be a Hong Kong team member in the future.'

Ambitions:  Ariel's plan is to keep breaking junior records. After finishing at Primary school, she wants to go to Diocesan Girls' School.
