THE top run of second-placed Marina Park and the way Swing Low and Voleris were outpaced underlined one thing to the European contingent - it's no good bringing milers to the International Bowl. The filly Marina Park was considered a bit of a risk at the trip whereas Swing Low and Voleris had shown their best form over a mile. But both Swing Low and Voleris could never land a blow whereas Marina Park was up with the pace throughout and stuck on gamely to force Winning Partners all the way to the line. European milers may be better off in the Cup than the Bowl. This was the point Guy Harwood made after Thorious could never land a blow in last season's Bowl and the French-based Englishman John Hammond was disappointed that Voleris was selected for the Bowl rather than the Cup, his original preference.
