Tremors were felt at Olympic venue construction sites in the capital yesterday as the earthquake struck Hebei province .

Games organisers said the quake did not affect Olympic projects, including the main stadium and the swimming complex.

'The design and construction of Olympic venues strictly follows the national code for seismic design of buildings. The earthquake which took place in Hebei this morning has not had any impact on Olympic venues,' said Feng Qihua, spokeswoman for the Beijing Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.
