I LIVE in Lung Fung Garden, in Sheung Shui. Every Friday evening till midnight, and on Saturday and Sunday, hundreds of illegal hawkers pour into Lung Shum Avenue, Sheung Shui, along Lung Fung Garden, New Metropolitan Plaza and at the footbridge which leads to Sheung Shui KCR Station.
Normally, it takes two minutes to walk from the station to Lung Fung Garden. But when the hawkers are there, it takes 15 minutes, because the congestion is so bad.
It drives me nuts having to squeeze in between these stalls some of which have woks full of boiling oil. I have seen a Regional Council hawker control unit once or twice, but the hawkers are still there.
Something that will be more effective must be done by the Regional Council.
