10 arrested over turf war shoot-out
Three more men have been arrested in connection with a pre-dawn shoot-out in Tsim Sha Tsui on Monday, bringing the total number of arrests to 10. A police spokeswoman said some suspects had been released on bail, but no one had been charged. Three suspected members of the Wo Shing Wo triad society were shot by two gunmen at the junction of Austin Avenue and Kimberley Road.
Jockey must wait to see if passport is returned
Australian jockey Chris Munce will have to wait almost another week to find out if he will be free to travel soon after an application to the Independent Commission Against Corruption for the return of his passport was refused. Munce was one of seven arrested on July 3 as part of a probe into a tips-for-bets bribery scam and relinquished his passport soon after. He is due in Eastern Court on Thursday.
Woman robbed of Rolex
A woman, 78, was robbed of a Rolex watch worth $10,000 in Kowloon City after being knocked unconscious by an attacker. She was heading to Hau Wong Road to visit a friend when she was assaulted shortly after 1.30am. Police said the robber struck her on a staircase.
