DEFENCE lawyer Anthony Kwan told the District Court he was ''alarmed'' that a 17-year-old youth had committed a lift robbery when he came from a ''genuinely devout Buddhist family''. Wan Kok-chu was found guilty after trial by Judge Wilson and put on probation for 18 months. Prosecutor David Mackenzie-Ross said that on November 26 last year Cheung Lai-mui returned to her home in Tin Chu House, Shun Tin Estate, Kowloon. Wan was in a lift when she got in. When the lift stopped at the fourth floor Wan wedged the door open with a screwdriver. Ms Cheung pressed the alarm and shouted for help. Wan covered her mouth with his hand and took $1,300 and her radio.
