Good news for those who don't have the time, or a butler, to polish the silver. A new product, purportedly the world's first non-tarnish sterling silver, puts an end to the hateful twice-a-year task of using flannels and polish to maintain the metal's finish. Developed by Carrs Silver, Lustre Silver apparently needs no more than an occasional wipe with a soft cloth to keep it gleaming for years. Lustre Silver, with a content of at least 92.5 per cent pure silver, comes in an array of ranges from cutlery to photo frames (right; $505) to decanters (left; $1,795). The products are available at Town House (shop 210, Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2845 0633; and LG103, Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong, tel: 2375 0002).
