Who? The 33-year-old interior designer behind the show flats in two upmarket residential developments - The Morrison and one yet to be named - to open in Wan Chai this year.

What's his story? After graduating from the Surrey Institute of Art & Design University College, the Hong Kong-born designer remained in England for a brief period, planning the interiors of residential flats and restaurants for friends. However, he soon returned to Hong Kong to work at a local firm.

He went solo in 2001, setting up his own design company, Pal Pang Interior Architecture, which is now simply called Another. 'I wanted to focus more on the design culture rather than the person,' says Pang. 'Another takes the imagination further.'

His big break? A successful pitch to design retail outlets for local jewellery group Madia in 2003.

Pang felt international brand names such as Prada and Chanel invested generously in designing their retail outlets as part of branding, an important element that, he believes, was largely overlooked by many local retailers. 'A lot of businesses realised branding was important but when it came down to it, it was about how many shelves they could fit into the shop,' Pang says. 'I saw a lot of established brands come alive by re-inventing themselves and I felt the same could be done for local brands. The boss [of the Madia Group] was very daring in trying new things.'

Pang went full steam ahead on his first Madia project, at the IFC Mall in 2002. He used LED lights, stainless steel and glass casings to bring out the sparkle in the firm's diamonds. Pang says, 'I didn't want to just design a shop to showcase the diamonds. The whole shop was a showcase.'
