They reached the quarter-finals two years ago and this time the Hong Kong schools football team wants to go one better.
A squad of 18 boys has been selected for the 34th Asian Schools Football Championships to be held in Danang City, Vietnam next month.
The SAR hosted this tournament two years ago and Hong Kong had hoped to do well. But they suffered a 1-0 loss to regional rivals Singapore, and crashed out.
'We want to reach the semi-finals this time,' said coach Suen Shi-keung. 'We have the skills, but I think all the boys need to understand the physical demands. We need to be more aggressive.'
Eleven nations are expected to compete, although the list is not yet confirmed. The tournament runs from August 8 to 18.
Included in the squad is Jing Ying tournament top scorer To Hon-to from Jockey Club Ti-I College, as well Yu Maruyama of The South Island School, the outstanding footballer of the year for Hong Kong and Kowloon schools.
