But as long as they are benefiting from the farmers' hard work, it is important for people to understand the industry.
Greenpeace China is staging a photo exhibition at the Cultural Centre from Sunday to Wednesday.
They hope to raise public awareness of the importance of supporting ecological and organic rice farming, which protects the environment and farmer's livelihoods, and ensures food safety.
The exhibition is part of a nationwide tour which began in Beijing last month.
In 2004, Greenpeace China organised the project 'The Road of Rice - The Ecological Agriculture Tour' in Yunnan province to celebrate 'Biodiversity for Food Security', the theme of 2004's World Food Day.
