White Los Angeles turntable wizard Lucas MacFadden has been less heralded than he might be for his respectable 12 years of DJ sets and recording production - the latter mostly with Jurassic 5, from whom he recently split.
Like DJ Shadow, Chemist's vinyl collection is the stuff of legend and mighty eclectic. Whittling down samples for this, his debut solo disc's dozen tracks must have been a major factor in the time it's taken him to see the light of day.

But it was worth the wait, as we get choice excerpts of decades' worth of soul, funk, bossa nova, hip-hop and rock, along with some intuitively well-placed spoken word, scratching and other effects.
