Science of speed on film
The adrenaline-inducing sensation of speed experienced by the world's fastest men and women is captured in a new Omnimax show at the Hong Kong Space Museum.
Top Speed lets viewers explode from the blocks with the world's fastest sprinters, career downhill on a mountain bike, and fly through bends in a Porsche.
The film begins on a racetrack where Lucas Luhr, one of the fastest drivers on the circuit, reveals how race-car drivers hone their reflexes.
The film also probes the muscle physiology of three-time Olympic gold medallist Marion Jones and her intense concentration. It reveals the many scientific and psychological facets that add up to being
number one.
'With the Asian Games coming up soon [December], we wanted something with a sports theme,' said the museum's assistant curator, Wong Yiu-wah.
