Reporters Without Borders lashed out at China yesterday, saying that when the 2008 Olympics are opened two years from today, neither the Beijing Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (Bocog) nor the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will be able to guarantee that the thousands of foreign journalists covering the event can do their job freely. The group said it was outraged that instead of relaxing restrictions on the media, Chinese authorities were actually stepping up controls, increasingly harassing both Chinese and foreign journalists and local publications.
