The Rising Sun Anger Release Bar encourages customers to use its staff as punching bags for 50 yuan to 100 yuan a minute.

The bar, which claims to have drawn its inspiration from similar venues in Japan, employs 40 burly young men dressed in protective gear to face the wrath of customers.

'Business is going well, especially during weekends. The market is very promising,' an employee said yesterday.

The market is so promising, in fact, that Nanjing has several bars with the same theme.

Many of the customers were women working in the service industry, such as karaoke bars and massage parlours, the bar's founder was quoted by the China Daily as saying.
