Sonya 'Black Widow' Thomas and Hong Kong's eating king Johnny Wu Hung-shing line their stomachs for the first Whampoa Asia Eating Championship in Hong Kong tomorrow, where 36 champion chompers will munch their way through as many dumplings as they can in 12 minutes. The six top competitors will vie for a HK$20,000 prize in Sunday's final, when they will wolf down jumbo-sized lotus longevity buns. In her first Asian contest, Korean-American Thomas, 39, will also face a competitor from Shanghai. Thomas holds 27 world eating records and won last year's Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Competition in New York. 'I am confident I will win this competition. I like to win, especially against men,' she said. Wu, whose record is 76 dumplings in 12 minutes, said: 'I am nervous competing against her, but this is what makes it fun for me.'
