Spice Up your weekend with a music extravaganza at the International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay next Saturday.

The Spice It Up variety show is presented by the Joint Interact Council, a branch of Rotary International District 3450 (Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia) formed by young people aged 14 to 18.

More than 40 committee members from 60 local and international schools are involved in organising the event.

The entertainment includes a fashion show, variety show and singing competition.

Students will model outfits entered in a fashion design competition and clothes sponsored by Bauhaus.

The best models will win a contract with Baby Blue, while the winners of the fashion design contest will

get an internship with Bauhaus. Singers will belt out original and cover songs, and finalists willl win an audition with Humming Bird, a production/ management company.

Two teams of student dancers will present jazz and hip hop performances. Rocker Endy Chow Kwok-yin, Canto-pop stars Deep Ng Ho-hong, Stephanie Cheng Yung and Yen Ng, and pop duos I Love You Boyz and Krusty will be the guest performers. Proceeds of the show will go to United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) to help children affected by Aids.

'We want students to have a fun and fruitful summer. We also hope they will use the summer holiday to help people in need,' said Tiffany Woo, 18, chairwoman of the 41st Joint Interact Council.

'In some developing countries, [children are assaulted] because people believe this action will cure HIV/Aids. We want to put an end to this misconception,' said Tiffany, of Chinese International School.

According to Unicef,

15 million children had been orphaned by Aids worldwide by 2003. Among them, about 12 million live in sub-Saharan Africa. It is estimated that by the year 2010, more than 18 million children will have lost at least one parent to Aids.
