This summer's Bonaqua Kicking for Future Youth Soccer Training Programme offered professional coaching for more than 600 primary and secondary school students.

The four-week course was held at Coerver Football Park in Kowloon Bay and at La Salle College in Kowloon Tong.

At a graduation ceremony last week, Lau, an ambassador for the programme, announced the 12 most outstanding players from four age groups. They will have another week's training at the Japan Coerver Coaching Soccer School in Tokyo this month.

In Japan, the group will take part in skills tests with juniors from the Japanese school, and will visit top J-League clubs Kashima Antlers and FC Tokyo. They will also watch a J-League match between the Antlers and Urawa Red Diamonds.

Many football professionals say the Coerver coaching method is the best in the world. More than two million players have benefited from the training scheme. Under the programme, players are divided into groups and practise skills, such as ball control, receiving and passing, one-on-one attacking and defending, speed, finishing and teamwork.
