Pharrell Williams began working on his debut solo album, In My Mind, in early 2005. As a member of production duo The Neptunes, Pharrell was already regarded as one of hip hop's top producers. The excitement has grown over the last 18 months, and fans have not waited in vain. The album, a mix of hip hop and R&B tunes, opens with Can I Have It Like That, featuring Gwen Stefani, which has been a hit in clubs all over the world. You Can Do It Too, a relaxing song, features award-winning UK jazz musician Jamie Cullum on additional vocals. Keep It Playa, featuring Slim Thug, and Raspy S**T will have you moving to the beat within seconds. The weakest link is That Girl, featuring Snoop Dogg, with its repetitive, whiney sound. But the album is saved by the next track, Angel, which is a UK hit. The keyboards in Young Girl/I Really Like You give the track an 80s feel that makes a refreshing change to the earlier hip hop songs. The album has weak moments, but overall it's an upbeat collection of songs that's great for lounging around at home or for a house party.
