Why you can trust SCMP

Where is it? In the Malaysian capital's hectic Golden Triangle area, on the fourth floor of the Ritz-Carlton's serviced suites. Spa Village is the sister spa of the much-vaunted Spa Village in Pangkor Laut, also in Malaysia.

What's so special about it? It provides a unique experience of the region's natural treatments, all administered in luxurious surroundings. The three-hour Traditional Royal Malay Treatment, for example, is strongly influenced by Ayurvedic and Thai healing. It includes a Malay facial, body massage, body scrub, herbal bath and scented body steam using Malay herbs and spices. The Chinese Peranakan treatments include the Bamboo Tapping Qi-gong massage, a fusion of Chinese and Malay traditional practices.

What else is on the menu? You can have an antioxidant caviar facial and a wide range of body treatments. Massage choices including Swedish, Lomi-Lomi (Hawaiian), Malay, Tui-na An Mo (Chinese), Thai, Balinese and hot stone.

What about my partner? Treat yourself and your other half to a Nusantara Traditional Southeast Asian Treatment for couples, which provides his and hers hair treatments, body masques, body steaming, baths and body massages.

What else? The Sensory Experience combines yoga, massage and meditation with exercises and an ambient atmosphere designed to relax mind and body. The lights are dimmed in a specially designed sensory room and participants relax, cross-legged, on a mat as soothing music fills the room. The 'facilitator' guides you through relaxation exercises designed to enhance your sensory perceptions.
