Updated at 5.18pm: More than 200 members from Hong Kong political parties and women?s groups on Tuesday afternoon protested a magazine?s publication of photographs of a female singer changing clothes.
Chanting slogans along their way to Government House in Central, they protested Easy Finder magazine?s publishing of its secretly taken photographs of Gillian Chung Yan-tung. The pictures, which appeared on the front cover of last week?s issue of the magazine, show Chung adjusting her bra while backstage during a concert in Malaysia.
Protestors also called for stronger protection of privacy, and legislation against publication of indecent materials. One of the organisers said they had collected 20,000 signatures protesting the pictures.
Representatives of the groups planned to meet Home Affairs officials to discuss the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
Action star Jackie Chan, honorary chairman of the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild, was quoted by local radio as saying they were planning further action against Easy Finder. But the group declined to elaborate.
Earlier on Tuesday, seven Democratic Party members marched to the office of Next Media in Tseung Kwan O, which publishes Easy Finder magazine. Those who attended included party vice-chairman Albert Ho Chun-yan, who was recovering from eye and facial injuries following an attack by bat-armed men last week.
