The Liberal Party has been invited to visit Beijing within weeks, as the central government renews its willingness to meet political parties from Hong Kong.
The visit was unveiled by Liberal chief James Tien Pei-chun, a day after the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong announced a visit from September 11 to 14.
The two parties last met state leaders in Beijing in 2003, just after the July 1 march.
Mr Tien said a representative from the central government's liaison office had approached the party and asked whether members could visit from September 13 to 15.
They could, and all that remained was confirmation by the liaison office, he said.
'I think our party members will make sure that they are free to attend the trip.'
