A LEADING democratic party in China has vowed to strengthen its supervision on the ruling Communist Party in its working plan next year, official reports said yesterday.
Speaking at the opening of a Central Committee meeting of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, vice-chairman Peng Qingyuan said the party would step up its political participation and conduct more social research.
The party will actively offer its suggestions on the development of a socialist market economy in the country, he said.
More importantly, the democratic party leader said members would be called on to study Deng Xiaoping Thought, which he described as their top-priority task.
Mr Peng said Taiwan affairs also figured prominently in the working plan.
The party should give full play to the strong overseas ties of its members to help expand exchanges and facilitate direct contacts across the straits such as trade, communication and transport, he added.
