Le Point hit with new claim over unfair sales practices
Fresh allegations of unfair sales practices have been levelled against Cheung Kong (Holdings) over its Le Point residential development.
Investor To Lok-sang has accused the property giant of denying him a price list for all the flats on sale when he visited the project's showroom on August 21. He said it was the first time in 30 years that he had been denied a full price list.
Le Point, located above Tiu Keng Leng MTR station, was the focus of complaints that prompted new guidelines from the Real Estate Developers Association on sales that took effect four days after Mr To's visit.
'When we're buying vegetables in the wet market, we're told how much they cost before making a decision. But now we're denied a price list when we're talking about millions of dollars of investment,' Mr To said.
He criticised the association for refusing to accept his complaint against Cheung Kong on the grounds it was a private organisation. The association suggested he complain to the Consumer Council.
Mr To said that when he went to the Le Point sales office in Hunghom, he was interested in a flat on the 41st floor. The agent gave him a rough estimate - more than HK$4 million - and suggested he talk to the developer's staff at the sales counter about a price list.
Mr To asked at the counter and was given a list of flats already sold.
