Popular NBA star Tracy McGrady (T-Mac) received a warm welcome from fans at the Southorn Stadium last week. T-Mac was in town on the final stop of his four-city Asian tour to promote adidas shoes and mingle with his fans. He visited Hong Kong for the first time last year. He showed no signs of fatigue from visits to Manila, Guangzhou and Seoul, and took part in a three-on-three match with Hong Kong's junior players at the Wan Chai venue. He shared valuable tips with the players and spoke to his fans. McGrady, a teammate of Yao Ming at the Houston Rockets, arrived in the city last Wednesday, travelling from the airport to the Grand Hyatt Hotel in a shiny 1989 Rolls Royce Corniche. 'I'm delighted to be in Hong Kong again,' T-Mac said. 'I can feel the amazing vibrancy of your city, and the tremendous enthusiasm of its young basketball players and fans.' McGrady's packed schedule included seeing a lion dance and enjoying a traditional Chinese dinner at the Jumbo Kingdom restaurant in Aberdeen. T-Mac was also the special guest at the grand opening of the new adidas sports store in Tsim Sha Tsui - the company's biggest in Asia. 'We're deeply honoured to welcome T-Mac back to Hong Kong for his second visit within one year,' said adidas Hong Kong managing director, Colin Currie. 'His visits to Hong Kong give tremendous inspiration to all our young sportsmen and women, especially basketball players.'
